The above observations and links are from nearby weather stations, the left is a NOAH approved MADIS station three miles southwest from our home off Exley Road and Highway 20 at 1,967 feet elevation with a southern exposure, the right is a personal weather station three miles south from our home off Highway 20 one mile East of the MADIS station at about 1,800 feet elevation. The NOAH forecast below is centered about two miles northeast from our home at Ells Field (airport) and is a reasonably reliable indicator for tomorrow's weather. |

Brooktrails has numerous microclimates. For instance, our house is located within the Willits Creek canyon on a north facing
slope at 1,600 feet elevation, higher than Willits, Ukiah or Mendocino. We are more affected by the marine layer than Ukiah,
though not as is much as coastal Fort Bragg or Mendocino. The Jackson State Forest weather station readings at McGuires,
though at a lower elevation and somewhat South and West of us, also gives a fair indication of the wind
and temperature in the coastal mountains. The Weather Service Ukiah Airport current conditions feed shows above left, but in the summer our highs are 15-20 degrees (F) cooler than Ukiah. In the winter, our lows are generally 10 or more degrees colder than Ukiah. Note that the weather stations don't always reflect the actual experience of the weather - see this comparison.
